UCD Wins a Prestigious National Science and Technology Award in Public Safety

Recently, the winners of the 2025 Public Safety Science and Technology Award were officially announced. Two achievements led by Beijing Urban Construction Rail Transit Company, a subsidiary of UCD, namely “Key Technology and Application for the Safe Construction of Mountain Tunnels in Complex Water-Rich Environments” and “Intelligent and High-Precision Construction Technology for Vertical Support Systems Using the Top-Down Method in Water-Rich Sandy Gravel Strata”, received Second Prizes of the Public Safety Science and Technology Progress Award. 

The achievement “Key Technology and Application for the Safe Construction of Mountain Tunnels in Complex Water-Rich Environments” has been successfully applied to the Chongqing Rail Transit Bishan-Tongliang Line. Addressing major construction risks such as sudden water inrushes and tunnel collapses in water-rich mountain tunnels, the technology has established an end-to-end safety construction system integrating risk identification, advanced detection, targeted disposal, and intelligent early warning. It has significantly enhanced the safety, precision, and operational efficiency of tunnel construction under complex geological conditions. 

The achievement “Intelligent and High-Precision Construction Technology for Vertical Support Systems Using the Top-Down Method in Water-Rich Sandy Gravel Strata” has been applied to the integrated transportation junction project of Beijing Lize Urban Terminal. It has overcome a series of industry challenges, including high-precision verticality adjustment of steel pipe columns, collapse prevention for trench walls of ultra-deep diaphragm walls, and micro-deformation control in the vicinity of operating subway lines. A high-precision, low-disturbance construction technology system integrating intelligent equipment upgrading, construction process innovation, active deformation prevention and control, and intelligent monitoring and early warning has been developed, delivering remarkable engineering value and social benefits.

China Association for Public Safety is a national first-level academic society with significant influence in the field of public safety in China. The Public Safety Science and Technology Award established by it is an authoritative domestic scientific and technology award in this field.
