UCD Secures Approval for Two Beijing Key Laboratories

The Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and Zhongguancun Science Park Administrative Committee have announced the list of Beijing key laboratories to be recognized in 2026. The Beijing Key Laboratory of Urban Transportation and Building Vibration and Noise Control led by UCD in application and the co-founded Beijing Key Laboratory of Collaborative Operation of Rail Transit have been selected for the list.

With a core focus on intelligent noise perception and vibration/noise mitigation solutions for complex urban environments, the Beijing Key Laboratory of Urban Transportation and Building Vibration and Noise Control covers diverse disciplines, encompassing acoustics, architectural design, civil engineering, road and railway engineering, bridge and tunnel engineering, disaster prevention and mitigation engineering, as well as automation. The lab tends to set up a professional innovative platform that integrates fundamental research, technology R&D, testing and verification, and translation of research findings into practical applications, dedicated to providing technical support for urban habitat improvement, green development in the transportation and construction sectors, as well as the building of a “Tranquil Beijing”.

After capitalizing on resources and advantages of all involved parties, the Beijing Key Laboratory of Collaborative Operation of Rail Transit will conduct studies on topics like coordinated operation optimization, safety assurance, and performance upgrading related to rail transit, boosting integrated innovations among industries, universities, research institutes, and end-users, facilitating the engineering application of technological achievements, and contributing to smarter and safer operations of the rail transit industry.

Looking ahead, UCD will, in accordance with the Administration Measures of Key Laboratories in Beijing, oversee the high-standard construction and operation of the two laboratories mentioned above. By means of consolidating its resources in industries, universities and research institutes, centering on solving technical challenges, technology transfer, talent cultivation, formulating the standards, and other approaches, UCD will give full play to the radiating effect of the science and technology innovation platform, thus bolstering the high-quality development of the rail transit sector and the overall innovation capacity of Beijing.
