What Has UCD Done to Boost the Sustainable Development of the Sector?

In terms of sustainable development of rail transit, key technologies for urban rail transit,"quality homes", energy conservation and low-carbon technologies, urban renewal and transformation, etc., UCD leverages resource advantages to forecast industry hotspots, and organizes and hosts a series of high-end forums to gather wisdom talents and complete capacity empowerment and promotes industry sustainable development, thus assisting in building a beautiful city. Since 2024, a series of forum activities hosted and co-organized by UCD have received attention and reports from CCTV, BTV, Capital Construction News, Workers' Daily and other media!  

Academic Forum on Eco-friendly Living and Low-Carbon Renewal

In 2025,"quality houses" are first included in the Report on the Work of the Government. In this case, premium houses direct the new trend of high-quality development of housing construction. The Beijing Institute of Residential Building, a subsidiary of UCD, has not only won multiple awards in the National "Quality Homes" Design Competition, but also implemented first related construction project in China. From February 27 to 28, 2025, the Academic Forum on Eco-friendly Living and Low-Carbon Renewal  co-sponsored by organizations including UCG and the Beijing Institute of Residential Building was held in Beijing. It gathered many academicians, masters, famous experts and scholars to have a depp discussion on matters like the connotation of "quality homes" for green living in the new era as well as the innovative practical experience of urban renewal under the background of new quality productive forces, injecting new momentum into the high-quality and sustainable development of cities. During the event, experts also took a field trip to the Longhu·Guancai Program, a land plot project for the first National "Quality Homes" Design Competition in Beijing,  and held a "Quality Homes" seminar on the spot.  

Urban Rail Transit Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Technology Forum

Under the major strategic background of achieving the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" goals, accelerating the promotion and application of energy-saving technology and equipment and promoting green and smart transformation are the only way for the high-quality development of urban rail transit. During the 2024 (7th) Urban Rail Transit Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Technology Forum of China Energy Conservation Association, over 200 guests gathered together to discuss the theme of "Exploration of Urban Rail Energy Conservation and Low-Carbon Development Models and Discussion on the Application of Innovative Technologies", exchanged results and offered suggestions from the perspectives of energy conservation and carbon emissions reduction, development strategies, innovative technology applications and green-intelligence coalescence, so as to explore new paths for energy-saving and low-carbon development of urban rail transit. The Urban Rail Transit Energy Conservation Special  Committee of the China Energy Conservation Association was established in 2017, and its secretariat is located in UCG. In the past seven years, UCD has actively fulfilled its industry responsibilities, assisted the Urban Rail Transit Energy Conservation Special Committee in tasks such as urban rail transit technology innovation, energy-saving technology promotion and standard preparation, leading the transformation of the urban rail transit industry to energy-saving and low-carbon development.

Forum on Sustainable Development of Rail Transit in the Context of Urban Renewal

Station-city integration, assembly technology, smart electromechanical technology, renovation of existing subway lines, etc. On December 10, 2024, the Second Executive Meeting of the First Session of the Rail Transit Branch of the China Engineering and Consulting Association and the Forum on Sustainable Development of Rail Transit in the Context of Urban Renewal, hosted by the Rail Transit Branch of the China Engineering and Consulting Association and co-organized by UCD  and other organizations was convened in Beijing. Experts and scholars focused on the background of urban renewal strategies, conducted in-depth exchanges from different angles, and jointly discussed technological innovation and development models for the sustainable development of rail transit. During the forum, Yang Xiuren, consulting engineer of UCD  and national engineering and consulting master, addressed a speech themed on"Preliminary Exploration on Upgrading and Development of Urban Rail Construction Technology" where he systematically elaborated on the scientific principles, core advantages and practical cases of prefabricated metro station technology, complete track technology and assembled technology for interior rooms in metro stations, providing  an important reference for the development of green construction technology for China's rail transit.

2024 China Urban Rail Transit Key Technology Forum and the 32nd Metro Academic Exchange Conference

On November 7, 2024, the 2024 China Urban Rail Transit Key Technology Forum and the 32nd Metro Academic Exchange Conference, guided by China Civil Engineering Society and co-organized by UCD, was opened in Wuxi. Themed on "Green-Intelligence Coalescence, Sustainable Development", the conference conducted extensive discussions and exchanges on  green development, digital intelligence, technological innovation, and many others against the background of "double carbon" policies, and shared cutting-edge consultation and research results to promote pragmatic cooperation. The China Urban Rail Transit Key Technology Forum and Metro Academic Exchange Conference is China's earliest, most authoritative and most influential urban rail transit technology exchange platform, which   was founded in 1979 by the Rail Transit Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society. It is an important force in promoting the development of rail transportation in China. As a supporter of the Rail Transit Branch of the China Civil Engineering Society, UCD has always taken promoting the development of the industry as its own responsibility.For one thing, it promotes the development and progress of the sector with new concepts and new technologies. For another, it is committed to building an industry platform to deepen exchanges and boost cooperation, keeping on contributing to the high-quality development of the industry.

Cross-Strait and Hong Kong and Macao Science and Technology Forum on Urban Construction and Sustainable Development 

On October 30, 2024, the 3rd Cross-Strait and Hong Kong and Macao Science and Technology Forum on Urban Construction and Sustainable Development was successfully held in Hong Kong. It effectively promotes academic exchanges, think tank consultation and youth exchanges between the cross-strait and Hong Kong and Macao science and technology areas, and enhanced corresponding understanding and trust. This forum was co-organized by UCD and the Hefei Institute of Public Safety Research, Tsinghua University. Over 200 representatives of  professional groups, colleges and universities, scientific research institutions, administrative departments, enterprises, ect., in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan participated in the forum activities. Experts and scholars focused on the theme of "Sustainable Development of Transportation and Urban Construction", exchanged in-depth scientific issues and technical problems in the process of coordinated development of urban construction and transportation across Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and explored solutions, thus building consensus and gathering intelligence to form a country with strong transportation.

In the future, UCD will continue to focus on areas such as urban renewal, green and low-carbon, and technological innovation, explore sustainable development paths for sectors such as architectural design and urban rail transit, consolidate its leading position in the rail transit design industry, and take the initiative to serve rail transportation, devoting to urban construction design strength in the new era.
