Bishan-Tongliang Line Comes into Initial Operation

A ceremony marking the construction commencement and operation of significant projects in the first quarter of 2025 was held on January 2. Tan Qing, Secretary of the CPC Tongliang District Committee, reported the progress of the Bishan-Tongliang Line in Tongliang. Yuan Jiajun, Secretary of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee, was present in the ceremony and announced the construction commencement and operation of projects. UCD Party Chief and General Manager Xia Xiujiang attended the ceremony. So the Bishan-Tongliang Line built by UCD was officially put into initial operation.

The Bishan-Tongliang Line is the first real PPP+TOD rail transit demonstration project in China and the first system-wide rail transit project of UCD. A contract on the project was signed on March 5, 2021. After four years of efforts, the construction was completed and the line opened smoothly, injecting new impetus into the high-quality development of the Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle. 

The Bishan-Tongliang Line is an exemplary line signifying the integration of high-speed rail, urban rail and subway in Chongqing, and also the fastest, longest suburban railway demonstration project with the longest mountain tunnel in the city. The line, 37.5 km long, was designed with nine stations. It starts from West Tongliang Station, passes through Tongliang Longchengtianjie Station, Kechuangxincheng Station, Qinglong Station, Dalu Station, Qinglonghu Station, Hebian Station and Bicheng Station, and ends at Bishan Station. Passengers can transfer to Line 1 in Bishan Station. The train on the line can operate at the maximum speed of 140 km/h.

The project started a test run on December 26, 2024, marking the availability of passenger service 45 days in advance, and drawing to a successful end. The opening of the line means the direct connection between 8 districts in western Chongqing and the central urban area through rail transit or railway.
