UCD Wins 3 Science and Technology Prizes

 

On Nov. 6, the results of the 2022 Beijing Science and Technology Award were released, and UCD won three prizes of the said Award.

Among the prizes, the “R&D and Industrialization of Assembled Track Technology” led by UCD won first prize of Science and Technology Progress Award and UCD-participated “R&D and Application of Intelligent Key Technologies of Rail Transit Based on Cloud Platform” and “Key Technology and Application of Efficient Expression and Operation Decision Making of Megacity Traffic Visual Big Data” won second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award.

 

First Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award for R&D and Industrialization of Assembled Track Technology

 

Track structure is the most important core infrastructure for carrying trains and ensuring safe and comfortable operation of trains. For a long time, there have been conspicuous problems such as complicated construction procedures, low efficiency, frequent hazards, difficult operation and maintenance, poor track smoothness, and high vibration and noise, which seriously restrict the high-quality, efficient, green and healthy development of rail transit. Funded by the National Key Research and Development Program of China and the science and technology plan of Beijing and by tackling key technological problems for more than ten years and with the concept of prefabricated assembly construction as the core and the mechanized construction as the support, a high-quality, efficient, safe and environmentally-friendly industrialized track structure construction mode has been developed throughout the whole process of design, manufacturing, construction, operation and maintenance and, based on a number of originally created key technological inventions, a whole set of key track structure assembly construction technologies with completely independent intellectual property rights have come into being. Currently, the technological achievements have been applied in rail transit projects in more than 10 cities in China, resulting in remarkable economic and social benefits.

 

Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award for R&D and Application of Intelligent Key Technologies of Rail Transit Based on Cloud Platform

 

 

 

To deal with the problem of high cost in rail transit construction and operation, the project team has developed the technology integrating intensive rail transit design, construction and transformation implementation, and simplified and reconstructed the business, system, equipment and civil construction. To tackle the problem of low digitalization and intelligence, the project team has developed a standardized digital urban rail algorithm and model development platform and realized the multi-modal information integration technology based on cloud edge collaboration, which has facilitated operation digital transformation and supported the real-time, efficient and proactive transformation of services. To minimize dependence on foreign technologies and new technology safety risks, the project team has developed dynamic defense security cloud technology based on China-made chips, which has realized the independence and controllability of key control equipment and broken through the international difficulty in signal system on-cloud security.

The project has realized four initiatives of intensive design guidance, unified standard guidance, cloud edge collaborative innovation and independence in coming on the cloud safely, filled a number of domestic gaps, and obtained 20 patents, 110 software copyrights, with 11 papers published. The technology has been rated as "one on international advanced level" by Academician Qian Qingquan, and has been successfully applied to more than 10 projects such as Kunming Metro Line 4 and Shaoxing Metro Line 1.

 

Second Prize of Science and Technology Progress Award for Key Technology and Application of Efficient Expression and Operation Decision Making of Megacity Traffic Visual Big Data

 

Traffic video monitoring is an important measure for current urban operation and traffic management. Due to the characteristics of multiple sources, large volume, heterogeneous and unstructured platform, the application of traffic video big data has bogged down in a predicament that “they cannot be saved, transmitted, distinguished and used”, becoming a major bottleneck restraining the construction of smart cities and intelligent transport. Under the support of National Natural Science Foundation of China and National Key Research and Development Program of China, the project team has conducted systematic research from such aspects as efficient expression and interconnection of video big data, accurate passenger and vehicle information perception and traffic prediction simulation, and operation decision-making platform oriented towards accurate governance to have opened up the whole chain of transmitting, perceiving and governing the traffic video big data and achieved a new governance situation that the urban traffic operation, decision-making and management “ can be watched, judged and controlled on the scene”. One of the achievements has been identified as the international standard, four national and industrial standards have been formed and the number of authorized inventions, patents and papers has reached nearly one hundred respectively, ensuring 10 million person-time safe travels each day in a number of big cities such as Beijing and providing traffic support service for important events in cities such as Beijing and Qingdao.
