UCD-designed Subways Open to Traffic in Hangzhou
On the afternoon of Sept. 22, Hangzhou Airport Rail Express (Hangzhou Metro Line 19) and the North Extension of Phase I of Hangzhou Metro Line 3, with general design contracting of which undertaken by UCD, were put into operation. To date, the operating mileage of Hangzhou Metro has reached 516 km, and the lines with general design contracting undertaken by UCD account for 40% of the total mileage opened to traffic, making positive contributions to "Hangzhou on rail track".
As an important integral part of the supporting infrastructure projects to usher in the "Asian Games", the Airport Rail Express is the first city-crossing express line with the maximum speed of 120 km/h in Hangzhou, with a total length of 59.14 km, running across the east and west main axis of Hangzhou and passing through the central city. Its two wings connect the scientific innovation corridor in the west of the city and the intelligent manufacturing corridor in the east of the city, and link such large transport hubs as Hangzhou West Railway Station, Hangzhou East Railway Station, Xiaoshan International Airport, etc. It takes 50 minutes for the subways to pass through the whole city of Hangzhou, offering great convenience for Hangzhou citizens to travel and enabling citizens to enjoy the travel experience of "taking the subways to the destination stations and going home by bus", which plays an important role in easing the traffic congestion pressure in the main urban area, shortening the space and time distance of regional clusters and boosting regional economic development.
The north extension section of Phase I of Hangzhou Metro Line 3 is the extension line of Phase I of Line 3, with a total length of 4.5km. After the completion, it will be put into operation with Phase I of Line 3, which can strengthen the connection between the high-speed railway hub center and the main urban area and directly serve Hangzhou West Railway Station to facilitate the radiation of Hangzhou West Railway Station and the building of an integrated comprehensive transportation hub.
