UCD Facilitates the Development of National, Industrial, and Local Standards

UCD is a designer of urban rail transit with the largest domestic market share and the optimal comprehensive strength, and a major participant in formulating deign standards for China’s urban rail transit industry. Up till now, it has led the preparation of 18 national and industrial standards including the Code for Design of Metro, and has compiled more than 50 national and industrial standards. Following the publication of the Design Standard for Track Express Line in Xiong’an New Area it edits, UCD has made breakthroughs and progress in developing multiple standards.

The compiling work of the Environmental Noise Emission and Control Standards for Urban Rail Transit (Boundary) of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment has been officially approved and initiated recently. UCD participated in compiling this standard as the only urban rail transit company. This standard is expected to, after completion, fill in gaps in the noise emission standards in China’s urban rail transit, standardize the noise emission of urban rail transit projects, and promote the sound development of the urban rail transit industry. By playing a role in compiling this standard, UCD makes a new attempt to actively fulfill its industrial responsibility and solve industrial problems in planning, design, investment, construction, operation and acceptance, which is also an embodiment of the enterprise’s powerful voice in the industry and the increased influence of the enterprise in ecological environment and urban rail transit. To complete the standard with high efficiency and quality, on April 13, UCD held a special meeting where the necessity, key points, and team composition for drafting this standard were demonstrated, with expert opinions formed and all tasks underway in a coordinated manner.

A few days earlier, public opinions on the Specification of Transport Load Assessment for Urban Rail Transit, an industrial standard under the general editorship of UCD, were solicited through the National Technical Committee for Standardization on Urban Passenger Transport. The standard stipulates the basic requirements, assessment indicator systems, assessment methods, and application of the urban rail transit transport load assessment. It applies to the transport load assessment on the existing line networks, lines, and stations of the urban rail transit, and also serves as a reference for the quality monitoring of urban rail transit service, the assessment on the reconstruction of existing lines and the construction of new lines. At present, a draft submitted for approval is being modified according to the opinions solicited.

Recently, the Code for Design of Suburban Rail under the general editorship of UCD was published on the official website of the Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation. It standardizes the technical requirements of suburban rail transit engineering design and better satisfies the development needs of suburban rail transit in Beijing. This Code comes into force on October 1, 2022. Suburban rail transit, according to the Code, refers to the rail transit system connecting central urban areas, sub-centers and new towns, town clusters and cross-border areas with a radius of 50-70 km, with a maximum allowable speed from 120 km/h to 200 km/h, which serves commuters with public transport services. It provides a vital link between the main and sub-centers of Beijing, between the main and sub-centers and new towns in multiple points, new towns in one district and cross-border town clusters, as well as between district and county clusters with keen travel demands. The suburban rail transit is mainly designed for commuters, with additional efforts put into the service for commuting students and business travels.
