UCD Wins 2020 National Science and Technology Award

On Nov. 3, the 2020 National Science and Technology Award Conference was ceremoniously held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. A total of 264 projects, 10 scientific and technological experts and 1 international organization were selected as winners through public appraisal, among which UCD, or Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group Co., Ltd., made its mark. The “Theory on Thermal Environment of Building and Related Key Technologies for Green Construction”, a research paper chosen as a winner of second prize of National Award for Science and Technology Progress with its completion participated by Li Guoqing, UCD’s party secretary and deputy general manager, was highly recognized by the judging panel by virtue of its remarkable economic and social benefits achieved. 

The project falls within the scope of civil engineering. Revolving around the theory on thermal environment of building and related development and engineering application of key green construction technologies, the project team has formed a dynamic thermal environment construction technical standard system, and has developed key technologies and equipment for smart energy saving and efficient regulation of thermal environment and constructed a thermal environment of building and green construction standard system, with the achievements having been applied to more than 30 major projects such as the National Stadium, Chengdu Shuangliu Airport, Beijing and Hangzhou subways, etc. and with an output value of 3.572 billion yuan and a profit of 473 million yuan increased in 3 years, resulting in remarkable economic and social benefits. It has played an extremely great role in supporting China's rail transit and building energy conservation and emission reduction, and has served as a practical and effective measure for comprehensively implementing the central government’s new development concept and for achieving the goals of carbon emissions peak and carbon neutrality.

It was the third time that Li Guoqing won the national science and technology award over 15 years. As UCD’s party secretary as well as director of Beijing Rail Transit Energy Conservation Engineering Research Center, he is a pacesetter in the rail transit industry and sets himself an example to others. And he strictly carries out the principle of Two Duties for One Post, boosts production with party building, drives party building innovation with technology innovation, uses operation to promote and strengthen party building, and deeply integrates party building with the central task, creating significant economic, social and environmental benefits and facilitating the enterprise to have realized sustained and high-quality development .
