With five lines simultaneously launched in Chengdu, UCD helped Chengdu to enter a new era of great metro line network operation

At 10 o’clock in the morning on December 18, the phase-I, II and III of Line 6, phase-I of Line 8, phase-I of Line 9, phase-I of Line 17 and airport section of Line 18 were officially put into operation in Chengdu. From then on, Chengdu officially entered a new era of great metro line network operation, with total length of 558 kilometers in operation.

Among them, the phase-I of Metro Line 8 is the first line of UCD’s general contract of investigation and design in Chengdu. After UCD won the bid for the general contract project of investigation and design of the phase-I of Chengdu Metro Line 8 in 2016, it organized selected elites to form a project team, and efficiently completed all the tasks including master planning, implementation, investigation and construction to put into transport service in 4 years and 8 months. With the supports of UCD and the branch leaders, the general contracting team of the project, professionals and professionals at all construction sites worked hard day and night, contributing UCD’s wisdom and power to the development of Chengdu Metro.

The phase-I project of Chengdu Metro Line 8 is an important line in the urban metro network, with the main function of transportation inside the central urban area, and the secondary function of connecting the outside clusters with the central urban area. It has many transfer points with the metro line network, with the function of collecting passenger flow and improving the sharing rate of metro; this project uses each metro train of 6-group A-type cars made in China, traveling from Lianhua Station in the south to Shilidian Station in the north with the total length of 28.97km. The whole line is underground, with 25 underground stations, including 14 transfer stations, and Yuanhua Depot, shared with Line 5 and Line 9 in the same location. The phase-I of Line 8 passes through the area covering many education, music, and cultural and creative industries. Therefore, “Music Metro; International Cultural and Creative Industry” is the design theme of this line, presenting a metro space on music themes by multi-dimensional cultural and creative methods with distinctive personality and unique characteristics. Along the line, there are 5 key artistic stations, namely Sichuan University Jiang’an Campus Station, Fangcao Street Station, Sichuan University Wangjiang Campus Station, Dongjiao Memory Station, and Chengdu University of Technology Station.
