Congratulations on the Trial Operation of Phase-I Project of Xuzhou Rail Transit Line 2
At 10 o’clock am on November 28, the phase-I project of Xuzhou Rail Transit Line 2, where UCD was responsible for the overall design contract, was officially completed for trial operation. After the phase-I project was completed, Line 2 realized transfer with Line 1 at Pengcheng Square Station, which indicates that Xuzhou Metro entered a new stage of “transfer and construction of multiple lines”.
The trial operation ceremony of the phase-I project of Line 2, and also commencement ceremony of the phase-II project of Line 3 and the phase-I project of Line 6 was held at Administrative Center Station. The ceremony was presided over by Zhao Liqun, Deputy Mayor of Xuzhou City, and Zhuang Zhaolin, Deputy Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee and Mayor and some other leaders delivered speeches respectively. Zhou Tiegen, Secretary of the Municipal Party Committee announced that the phase-I project of Xuzhou Rail Transit Line 2 was officially completed for trial operation. Yu Songwei, Deputy General Manager, attended the ceremony as a guest on behalf of the design organizations.
The phase-I project of Line 2 is an arterial line of rail transit extending the main axis southeastward along the core urban area. At the same time, it is a rail transit line mainly for meeting the needs of passenger flow and secondarily for guiding the urban planning. The line passes through the Second Ring North Road, Pengcheng Square, Jiangsu Normal University, Huaihai Campaign Memorial, Qiligou, and the Administrative Center. The whole line is 24.15km long, and all are underground, with 20 stations and an average distance of 1.245km, one parking lot at Xintaizihe and one depot at East New District, one main transformer station at Kunlun and one main transformer station at Liyuan, sharing Qiaojiahu Control Center with Line 1.
Since the construction of the phase-I project of Line 2 started in February 2016, the Line 2 overall contract design team of the branch institute has overcome various difficulties, such as the shield-driven running tunnel passing beneath the former Yellow River, liquefied soil layer, goaf and other risky points and major difficulties, which guaranteed the scheduled completion of Line 2. In the design competitions organized by Xuzhou Metro Group, this project team won the honorary title of “Advanced Collective” many times.
