Hairou-Miyun Railway Goes into Operation
On Sep. 30, the Huairou-Miyun railway, a UCD-designed suburban rail transit line of Beijing, was all opened to traffic. With its speed set at 160 Kilometers per hour the maximum, the railway is the first-ever suburban project constructed by virtue of existing railway resources. With a total length of 144.8 kilometers started from Beijing North Railway Station, the line passes 7 stations in total, inclusive of Qinghe, Changping North, Yanxi Lake, Huairou North and Heishan Temple, and ends at Gubeikou Station, with transfers provided at Beijing North Railway Station and Qinghe Station to 5 metro lines(with the planned included)in urban areas of Beijing, becoming a railway line that swiftly connects the central urban area of Beijing with Huairou Science City, Yanxi Lake scenic spot and Miyun Gubei Watertown in northeast Beijing.
The project has been reconstructed based on such existing rail resources as Beijing-Zhangjiakou high-speed railway, Beijing-Tongzhou railway line, as well as station and depot resources. The train operation diagram is more of a state-owned railway operation diagram to meet the needs for fast commuting between the central city and the Huairou Science City and for passenger flows bound for suburban tourism in Beijing. Featured on the CRH6F-A 4-section marshalling vehicle, the train departs from a fixed platform at the railway station, with fast access channels and fare system akin to urban subways (including transportation card, mobile phone APP, etc.) provided. And measures on security check mutual trust, strengthened transportation connections, etc. have been unveiled to make it easier for passengers to travel and to integrate with the urban public transportation system.
It has been 3 years since the project was planned until the openness of the whole line to traffic. The UCD headquarters in Beijing changed the design plans and countermeasures several times in the course of dealing with the railway interests, accumulating valuable experience for UCD to design for transforming existing railways into suburban ones. On the occasion of opening the suburban Huairou-Miyun railway line all to traffic, we hereby express our sincere gratitude to all employees, experts and company leaders who participated in and gave backing for the design of the suburban Huairou-Miyun railway line.
