Starting Ceremony for 2nd Innovation and Business Startup Competition for Urban Rail Transit Science and Technology Kicks Off at Beijing Jiaotong University 

On Apr. 25, the starting ceremony for the 2nd Innovation and Business Startup Competition for Urban Rail Transit Science and Technology, launched jointly by UCD, Beijing Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Tongji University and Southwest Jiaotong University under the guidance of China Civil Engineering Society, saw its grand opening at the Beijing Jiaotong University.  

Leaders, such as Guo Yunchong, chairperson of China Civil Engineering Society, Wang Hanjun, general manager of UCD, Chen Xi, deputy general manager of Beijing Rail Transit Construction Management Co., Ltd., Long Yucai, general manager of the Technology Management Center of Shenzhen Metro, Liu Jun, vice president of Beijing Jiaotong University, Han Yisun, and executive vice director of Qingdao Data Science Institute under Tsinghua University, as well as rail transit specialists, representatives of lead investment institutions, and winners from the first competition, attended the ceremony, coming to a total of more than 300 people.

UCD general manager Wang Hanjun introduced the development course of the competition, and went deep into the significance of the competition. Wang Hanjun said that currently, the world stands at the historical intersection of a new round of technical revolution and industrial change and innovation is an irresistible trend of the times as well as an important support for sustainable development. He added that the first competition was a complete success and the second would remain the way where it started, and that innovation should be made in form on the competition system to proceed from customer needs, and with the User Proposition added, the second competition was aimed at building itself into a platform for the transformation of technology achievements for sharing of resources and ideas.

After the starting ceremony, the 2nd Innovation and Business Startup Competition for Urban Rail Transit Science and Technology kicked off officially and signing up of projects for competition has begun. The deadline for the signup is around the middle of June, 2019. Signup from any eligible teams and companies is warmly welcome and, participation by more people is anticipated.
