Born for Subway and Proud of Subway development——60th Anniversary of UCD’s Establishment

On December 25, 2018, UCD ushered in the 60th anniversary of its establishment. At 1: 30 p.m., more than 1000 employees from all over the country gathered to celebrate the 60th anniversary and to attend the 2018 Annual Summary & Commendation Conference to witness the arrival of this great moment.

The venue was packed with guests of exalted rank and the atmosphere was warm. UCD’s General Manager Wang Hanjun, Deputy General Manager and UCD’s Board Chairman Shi Yubin addressed the meeting, and Shi Zhongheng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and former UCD’s Chief Engineer, delivered remarks on behalf of the older generation of subway designers.

The celebration started with a documentary “60 Years” to have a glance back at the 60 years’development of UCD.

On behalf of UCD, General Manager Wang Hanjun first extended a warm welcome to all the leaders and guests present at the meeting, and renewed the assurances of high consideration to predecessors and veteran leaders who initiated the careers of UCD!  He also conveyed sincere regards to those colleagues who have been holding fast to their posts, devoted to their work and made arduous efforts in the construction of UCD. Then, he reviewed in retrospect the history of UCD over 60 years, and summed up the brilliant achievements scored by UCD in recent years.

 As was said by General Manager Wang Hanjun at the meeting, at this moment of milestone significance, praises go to leaders at all levels who have always cared about and helped UCD in its development. Praises also go to shareholders who have recognized the value of UCD and supported the growth of the enterprise, to countless employees who have worked hard day and night hand in hand. And to family members of the employees who have selflessly contributed and silently supported the progress of the enterprise! He hoped that all the employees of the company will gather together in their future development and devote all their efforts to making the design consultation bigger, strengthening the general contracting of projects, actively cultivating and expanding new businesses, and coming up with more grand new answers with actions for UCD’s development.

Shi Zhongheng, academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and former Chief Engineer of UCD, delivered a speech on behalf of the older generation of designers at the meeting. He reviewed in retrospect UCD’s 60 years of development. He expressed that he would make some contributions to UCD’s development within his lifetime and as far as his ability can go, and sincerely thanked UCD leaders for their care and support long given to him. He wished for the thriving of China’s urban rail industry, as well as a better future for UCD!

UCD’s Deputy General Manager Board Chairman Shi Yubin delivered remarks at the meeting, He said that UCD is a large integrated enterprise group involved in the urban construction, urban real estate, urban construction design, the urban landscape, urban business startup, ranks among one of the “China top 500 enterprises”, “one of the ENR global and international engineering contractor”. As an important member of the group, UCD is the overall design unit of rail transit with the largest market share and the most comprehensive strength in China. According to UCD’s overall strategic plan, UCD has successfully landed on Hong Kong H shares and the capital market to build its first rail-transit-related infrastructure investment and financing platform and, by relying on the advantages of its brand, UCD has firmly grasped the opportunities and, guided by the design and driven by investment, UCD has given play to its advantages on the whole industry chain. While maintaining itself as the leader on the survey and design market, UCD has promoted the increment development of its business based on PPP, EPC and TOD, cultivated science and technology industrialization, new business in operation management to make happen the improvement of quality and efficiency for the sound and rapid development. While constantly realizing its own value, UCD has brought along the coordinated development of other business units and played an important role. It has fully proved the correctness and foresight of UCD’s strategy of building h-share listed enterprises, highlighted the vitality of red state-owned enterprises, and realized the preservation and appreciation of state-owned assets, and achieved the harmonious co-prosperity of the interests of both the enterprise and shareholders.

Board Chairman Shi Yubin said that, standing at the moment of UCD’s 60th anniversary, we hope UCD’s all members should adopt the tenet of “Many a little makes a mickle”, take the construction of UCD into a centennial enterprise as the goal, maintain and carry forward the fine tradition of “mentoring”, aim for the mission of “carrying the blueprint through to the end”, and make hard struggles and constant innovations to achieve the grand vision of "becoming an integrated service providers of design-oriented urban construction in defiance of difficulties to make contributions with unremitting efforts for the permanent development of UCD!
