The Third Section of the Fenghuangshan—Liyixincheng Expressway, the Most Beautiful of Its Kind in Zunyi, Goes into Operation in Due Form

On June 5, a meeting for inspection and acceptance of the third section of the PPP-based Fenghuangshan—Liyixincheng Expressway upon its completion was held at the conference room of Jing Jian Company on the basement level one. The project, constructed by UCD, passed muster as expected. On Oct. 9, the completion of the third section was put on the record, marking the operation of the section in its due form, a pivotal step forward taken toward the completion of the whole project of the expressway.

With the construction period set for a duration of 2 years and the running period for 10 years, more than 60000 tons of steel have been used in the project construction. The third section of the expressway, the largest of its kind in China, is a municipal steel bridge combining technology, wisdom, techniques, environmental protection and landscape into one. Located in the Honghuagang District of Zunyi, the section stretches a length of 681.5 meters in total, with its major part made of steel truss and steel box girders. Encompassing a wide variety of projects such as road engineering, bridge engineering, earth and rock engineering, lighting engineering, traffic engineering, utility tunnel engineering, etc., the bridge is featured by a shape of complicated curves and assemblies in varying sizes. Nearly 700000 set of high-strength bolts have been used alone for the third section, with the use of steel coming to a total of more than 24000 tons. 

Currently, the third section of the Fenghuangshan—Liyixincheng Expressway has won Gold Award of China’s Construction Engineering Steel Structure, the highest honor for the fine quality of construction engineering steel structure projects in China, as well as Great Wall Cup for Municipal Infrastructure Projects of Beijing, First Prize for Excellent Management of Fine Construction Projects of Beijing, Quality Structural Engineering Cup of Guizhou Province, and has been dubbed the title of Exemplary Site of Safe and Civilized Construction of Guizhou Province, etc. The project has also won 3 national utility model patents, National Excellence Award of QC and 3 of first prizes issued by Beijing Municipality. 

Fresh concepts have been used for the construction of the bridge. In the construction, the truss space has been utilized to the full for the establishment of sidewalks and landscape illumination to save urban land and space, clarify road functions and avoid the disturbance of pedestrians and vehicles. The road leads fast and straight from the central urban area to Xinpu New Area and the fabricated steel bridge is conducive to energy conservation and is ecology-friendly. The Fenghuangshan—Liyixincheng Expressway is an urban expressway to facilitate the rapid development of the Xinpu New Area as well as a way for people’s wellbeing to preserve clear waters and green hills and, moreover, it is the most beautiful way in the central urban area of Zunyi.
