Section from Outer Ring Road of Fenghuang Mountain - Liyixincheng Expressway to Donglian Trunk Road Officially Opened to traffic

On the afternoon of Aug. 5, the road starting from the outer ring road of Fenghuang Mounatin – Liyixincheng Expressway to Donglian Road, a beautiful municipal road section attracting the gaze of Zunyi’s townspeople, was opened to traffic officially, marking great progress made in the construction of Fenghuang Mounatin – Liyixincheng Expressway in Zunyi and signaling the realization of “through transportation”from central urban areas of Zunyi to Xinpu New Area by high-speed train on the outer ring road. Thus, Fenghuang Mounatin – Liyixincheng Expressway has begun to serve the townspeople of Zunyi in a true and practical way.

To construct the Fenghuang Mounatin – Liyixincheng Expressway has been a great decision and arrangement made by the municipal Party committee and the municipal government of Zunyi to improve urban traffic conditions, to construct a city of 2 million people, to increase road networks in both old and new urban areas and to boost the synergic development of Xinpu New Area and old urban areas, and the expressway has been the first municipal road being constructed under the“Design Optimization-Construction-Financing-Operation-Transfer”model when PPP model is being energetically popularized in China and the city of Zunyi continues its efforts to maintain its economic growth and vitalities. With its quality services and rich experiences in handling PPP projects, UCP serves as social capital provider and invests in the construction of the Fenghuang Mounatin – Liyixincheng Expressway. Duration for project construction is 2 years, while operation period is 10 years.

The Fenghuang Mounatin – Liyixincheng Expressway starts from the foot of the Fenghuang Mountain in the west and ends at Liyixincheng in the east. Steel truss and steel-girder structure have been used for the trunk road. When the project is wholly completed, the road will run all the way through from the onramp of Zhonghua Road to Liyixincheng. There are no traffic lights on the whole line, which truly realizes the functions of the urban expressway as a key artery of transportation. The surface road is a trunk road, connecting a number of bustling trunk roads in old urban areas such as Zhonghua Road, Inner Ring Road, Neisha Road, Outer Ring Road, Donglian Road and forward-planned roads after the relocation of the Sichuan-Guizhou Railway and substantially alleviating the traffic pressure in the old urban areas. At the same time, by drawing on the structural advantages of the steel truss, the pedestrian passageways are ingeniously built inside the trusses, separating people from vehicles and exponentially saving urban land and space.
