China Rail Transit Key Technology Forum 2018 & 27th Subway Academic Seminar Successfully Held in Changsha

From April 22nd through 23rd, “China Rail Transit Key Technology Forum 2018 & 27th Subway Academic Seminar” was ceremoniously held in Changsha. Sponsored by the rail transit branch of the China Civil Engineering Society and undertaken by UCD, Changsha Metro Group Co., Ltd. and Hunan Maglev Transportation Development Co., Ltd., the forum and seminar focused on the theme of “Late-Model Urban Rail Transit and EcoSmart Construction” and ushered in nearly 500 persons from across the country, including leaders, experts, and technical personnel in the field of rail transit industry.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Feng Aijun, secretary-general of the rail transit branch of China Civil Engineering Society and deputy chief engineer of UCD. President of China Civil Engineering Society Guo Yunchong, president of the rail transit branch of China Civil Engineering Society and UCD general manager Wang Hanjun, deputy director-general of Hunan Provincial Housing and Urban-Rural Development Yao Yingjie, vice mayor of Changsha Municipal Government Liao Jianhua and board chairperson of Changsha Metro Group Co., Ltd. Liu Yishan addressed the forum and seminar respectively.

President of the rail transit branch of China Civil Engineering Society and UCD general manager Wang Hanjun summed up the work and achievements done and made by the rail transit branch in 2017: (1) Conducting high-level academic seminars, such as China Rail Transit Key Technology Forum 2017 & 26th Subway Academic Seminar, Modern Tramcar Development Forum, Forum on Coordinated Development of Regional Speed Rail and City Agglomeration, and Summit Forum on Infrastructure Intelligence Construction and Security Operation; (2) Actively reporting excellent projects for awards, such as Line 12 of Shanghai, Line 3 of Qingdao, and Line S1 of Nanjing, all winning Zhan Tianyou Awards; (3) Earnestly recommending high-end talents, such as vice president of the rail transit branch Mr. Chen Xiangsheng elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Wei Yun elected candidate of leading talent in scientific and technological innovation under ministry of Science and Technology; (4) Compiling and publishing 60 Years of China Metro — People and Things to record the history of hard struggle in the development of China’s rail transit industry; compiling and releasing the first industry standards —— Standards for Design of Urban Rapid Rail Transit, with the influence being strengthened constantly. In 2018, the rail transit branch society will continue to closely follow up hot spots and difficult problems, and further give play to the role of the branch society as a platform in technical innovation, technical exchange, technological development and technology promotion to make contributions to the development of the urban rail transit industry in China. The branch society will actively maintain close contact with the members of the society, increase membership, propagandize and popularize the roles and functions of the branch society, and extend the influence of the industry in a persistent way. The year 2019 will mark the 40th anniversary of the founding of the branch society. In the year the branch society has a series of technical activities on its agenda and welcomes all members’ suggestions and active participation!

When delivering a keynote report, Yang Xiuren, UCD’s chief engineer and national survey and design master, shared his comprehensive technology researches into modern tramcar operation synergy & intelligence control system. He introduced the current development and advantages of tramcars, and analyzed five major issues facing tramcars currently, being the first to break through the prevailing concept of intersection signal control. In the next place, he introduced solutions to the frequent occurrence of accidents at intersections. Thirdly, he stressed the comprehensive improvement of the operating efficiency of tramcars. Fourthly, he suggested the combination of tramcars and the urban intelligent traffic signal system. Finally, he said the technology and equipment R&D should be conducted to promote a benign development.

With the initiative of “Late-Model Urban Rail Transit and EcoSmart Construction” as the theme, three parallel sessions were held simultaneously：Late-Model Rail Transit Construction, Green & Safe Construction Technology, and Big Data & Equipment, which covers a wide range of fields and contents.

Projects winning Zhan Tianyou Awards in 2017 and innovative technologies were shared at the forum and seminar, and the projects of urban rail transit technology innovation and popularization for the year 2018 were released on site as well.
