1st Plenary Meeting of the 2nd Committee of Engineering Consulting Special Committee ofChina Association of Metro held in Beijing

Recently, the First Plenary Meeting of the Second Committee of Engineering Consulting Special Committee of the China Association of Metros was held in Beijing. At the meeting, Wang Hanjun, the General Manager of Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group (UCD), was elected as the Director of the Special Committee, and he arranged the key tasks for the following two years. 

The collaboration of the implementation of industry policies, changes of design means, cooperative solution to knotty problems and quick co-sharing of results at the industrial levels has become very imperative and urgent. The meeting was sponsored by the Engineering Consulting Special Committee of the China Association of Metros and organized by UCD. Song Minhua, the Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Association of Metros presented at the meeting and delivered a speech. All the 75 member units of the Second Committee attended the meeting.

At the meeting, the work report of the first committee was made and a new leadership body was elected. Wang Hanjun, the General Manager of UCD, was elected as the Director of the Special Committee. Yu Weisong, the Vice General Manager of the same group was elected as the Secretary-General of the Special Committee.In the meantime, it was decided to rename the Special Committee as the Engineering Consulting Special Committee of the China Association of Metros, pressing ahead the progress of new technologies and new ideas of the industry. 

In his speech, Wang Hanjun, the Director of the Special Committee and the General Manager of the UCD arranged the key tasks for the following two years. He pointed out that there was still a long way to go as far as the development and future of China’s urban rail transit industry was concerned. The Second Special Committee would complete all the arranged tasks and make closely cooperation with the other special committees in accordance with the overall arrangements and requirements by China Association of Metros. On that basis, the Special Committee would promote the communication among member units, taking furthering the sustainable and sound development of design and consultancy of unban rail transit as the purpose and collaboration and cooperation as the starting point, to continuously improve the level and innovative ability of the design and consultation industry by the means of strengthening the division and of cooperation among the member units 

Vice President Song Minhua analyzed the development and current situation of urban rail transit, stressed the importance of planning and design work and the necessity of professional innovation, and placed high hopes on the Second Special Committee.He pointed out that the meeting was a new start for the development of the Special Committee and believed that under the leadership of the new leading body, the Special Committee would certainly be able to achieve future success. It was expected that the member units would continue to focus on cohesion and seek common development and contribute more to the development and progress of the design and consulting work of urban rail transit.

During the meeting, technical exchanges were also conducted. Chen Xiangsheng, General Engineer of Shenzhen Metro Group Co., Ltd., Mao Jianhua, Vice General Manager of Guangzhou Metro Group Co., Ltd., and Xu Chengyong, Vice General Engineer of Guangzhou Metro Group Co., Ltd., made keynote speeches, which centered on urban rail transit construction mode, vibration and noise reduction technology, building information modeling (BIM) and cloud technology application, the urban space-industry-public service multi-win development mode oriented to ground rail transit, urban rail transit network, as well as the tendencies of integration, characterization, intellectualization and diversity. The attending committee members and representatives conducted exchanges and discussions as well at the meeting.

As the launching and support unit of the Engineering Consulting Special Committee of the China Association of Metros, UCD would assume more responsibilities for promoting the development of the industry in the future and becommitted to leading the progress of new technologies and new ideas of the industry.The Committee would proactively organize the research and demonstration of science and technology development theories, policies, technical regulations and standards in the field of urban rail transit design and consultation, and promote the level of design and consultation service of the urban rail transit industry;actively carry out the work in terms of feasibility studies of urban rail projects, network planning consultation, post-project evaluation and so on; follow the domestic and international professional developments, study the developmental direction and difficult problems of general interest of urban rail transit industry, and make recommendations to governmental departments via the Association; strengthen information exchanges, advocate technological innovations and lead the development of industry and technologies; and organize education and training and reward talent as well.
