The First Subway Line in Hebei Province - The First Project of Shijiazhuang Rail Transit Line 1 Is Officially Put into Trial Run

The day of June 26, will go down in the history of Shijiazhuang. After five years of construction, the first project of Shijiazhuang Subway Line 1 (30.3 km) has begun trial operation with passengers. The phase I project of Shijiazhuang Rail Transit Line 1 (23.9 km), whose survey and design contracting is undertaken by Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group Co., Limited (UCD), is opened, accounting for 78.9% of the entire opened mileage. Shijiazhuang is the 29th city in China and the first city in Hebei Province to open the subway, bearing the expectation of Hebei people and marking the coming of “subway era” in Hebei, which has profound influence in coping with the stress of urban transportation, promoting the city’s grade and fueling the economic growth. The opening ceremony was hosted by Deng Peiran, the vice secretary of municipal Party committee of Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province, mayor of municipal government and the secretary of Party leadership. After the opening ceremony, the leaders took the subway with site representatives, to experience the comfort and convenience brought by rail transit. Wang Qi, the dean of Shijiazhuang Branch of UCD and the chief designer of Line 1, attended the opening ceremony, and accepted the interviews from TV and radios.

The phase I project of Shijiazhuang Urban Rail Transit Line 1, is a transmeridional backbone line in the network, which is laid along the Zhongshan Road, Changjiang Avenue, Qinling Street and planned Xincheng Avenue, all are underground lines. The overall length is 23.9 km. There are 20 stations, with five interchange stations. There are one car depot and comprehensive base and one parking lot. The opening of the project indicates that, the provincial capital of Hebei Province, Shijiazhuang, has entered the era of rail transit.

The Shijiazhuang Subway Line 1 takes “Red Orchestra, Lively Shijiazhuang” as the concept subject, with the elements of subject going through each station, which not only stands out the historic culture, but also shows the development vigor of city. Once again, it illustrates UCD’s tremendous strength and design capability.
