UCD’s Tentative Designing Program for the First-Stage Construction of the Astana Light Rail, a Major Project under “Belt and Road Initiatives” Passes Appraisal
Recently, UCD’s tentative designing program for the first-stage construction of the Astana Light Rail (the section of light rail between the airport and the newly-built train station) has passed appraisal without a hitch at a meeting where experts’ appraisals and consultations were conducted.
At the meeting, the experts listened to the comprehensive report made by Bao Tong, a UCD member in charge of the designing work, on the overall design of the first-stage project of Astana Light Rail, followed by discussion and exchange of views between teams of experts and the designing units. To the experts’ thinking, UCD’s preliminary design documents gave a clear picture of the functional positioning of the project, with the documents and basic material provided across the board and the design principles made to the point. They consider UCD’s major technical standards to be in compliance with the Code for Metro Design, and the depth and content of the design to fit in with the project requirements indicated in the documents. Therefore, the experts all agree that the design program can be used as a basis for designing the construction drawing after it has been modified and ameliorated on the lines of the appraisals. It marks that UCD’s tentative design program for the first-stage construction of the Astana Light Rail has successfully passed muster by way of experts’ appraisals.
It is reported that the first-stage project of the Astana Light Rail will reach as long as 21.39 kilometers, with the light rail to be all laid on flyovers to serve as a trunk line connecting northeastern and southwestern parts of Kazakhstan. UCD started to get involved in the project in 2015 and officially signed the General Contract for the Design of the First-Stage Project of the New Traffic System in Astana on February 3, 2016. Since July of 2016 when UCD began the work with intensified efforts, workers of the company have committed themselves scrupulously to their duties, worked overtime, made reports times without number to both Chinese and Kazakhstan proprietors, and cooperated closely with all construction units to ensure that every part of the project is fulfilled as scheduled and the quality of the program is assured.
