Phase-One Project of Zhengzhou Suburban Railway Formally Opened for Trial Operation

 

On Jan. 12, 2017, the Phase-One Project of Zhengzhou Suburban Railway, which extends from the South Fourth Ring to Zhengzhou South Railway Station, and for which UCD assumes the general contracting of design, was formally opened for trial operation. This project is the first railway line adopting the model of general contracting of design in the Central Plain region, and has attracted much attention of all circles. The ceremony for opening to traffic was hosted by Ma Yi, a member of the Standing Committee of Henan Provincial Party Committee and the secretary to Zhengzhou Municipal Party Committee. General manager Wang Hanjun attended the ceremony for opening to traffic. UCD, as a general contractor unit of design, was honorably titled as “Advanced Unit Participating in Construction”, and Wu Jianzhong accepted the commending on behalf of the design unit. After the ceremony, the provincial and municipal leaders and onsite representatives took the suburban railway, and experienced the comfort and convenience brought about by rail transit. UCD’s deputy general manager Feng Aijun, deputy chief engineer Que Zi, and Zhengzhou Branch’s president Zhang Xuejun attended the ceremony for opening to traffic together.

As a rail transit backbone line connecting airport area and central urban area, the phase-one project of suburban railway formally started design work on Dec. 13, 2013; formally commenced construction on May 15, 2014; realized full-line tunnel connection on Aug. 31, 2016; realized full-line rail connection on Sept. 15; realized power connection on Sept. 26; and started trial operation on Oct. 5. The smooth opening to traffic of the phase-one project of suburban railway has realized the direct connection between central urban area and airport area, promoted the fast development of airport area and clusters along the railway line, and meanwhile, connected Xinzheng International Airport and South High-Speed Railway Station, realized airway-railway combined transport, and provided fast and convenient public transit travel method for residents’ production, living and travel.

In project construction, UCD stick to design guide and people orientation. In terms of design, the phase-one project of suburban railway always grasped the ten relationship of “design and function, design and investment, design and expropriation, design and construction, design and safety, design and construction cost, design and resource development, design and urban image and function, design and quality safety progress, design and operation”, organically combined the orientation in rail transit line network, closely tallied with the current state and planning of regions along the line, uniformly considered the factors like the reconstruction of municipal roads, etc.; and dexterously treated the through-transfer relationship with Line 2.

This project is an urban rail transit line paved in an elevated way for the first time in Zhengzhou. For the full line of the elevated section, this project adopts the scheme of setting up evacuation platform and contact network in the middle of bridge; this project adopts conduit technology on prefabricated U-shaped beam successfully for the first time, avoiding the negative influences of follow-up construction on bridge and accelerating construction progress; it adopts long-crosstie integrated ballast bed technology on trestle of urban rail transit for the first time nationwide, realizing fast pavement progress and high precision, and ensuring passengers’ comfort in condition of high-speed operation of the train; airport station adopts evaporation and condensation technique to achieve the purposes of energy conservation and land saving and solve the difficulty problems in the arrangement of cold tower; in terms of operation, the project sets up two overtaking stations to realize fast operation at large stations. The decoration of railway station is themed on “The Wing of Central Plain, Setting Sail at a New Port”, which means that the elevated station building is the dual representation of cultural deposits and technological connotations. On the evaluation, three groups of arc lines are just like a large swan spreading the wings, symbolizing boosting the high-speed economic development of the airport area. Through the organic combination of traditional material glass curtain and perforated aluminum board, this project realizes ecological strategy, exhibits the elevation shape of the elevated station, and meanwhile, sufficiently realizes the technical demands on ventilation, sunshade, day-lighting, rainproof, structure stress, etc.
