Line 3, First Subway of Shandong Province, Opens to Traffic in Qingdao

At 11:00, December 18, Line 3 of the Qingdao subway, the first subway line of Shandong Province designed and constructed by UCD as a general contract project, saw its opening to traffic officially. Residents of Qingdao finally ushered in the underground railway of their own, marking the entrry of the city into the era of “subway”.

24.8 kilometers long, Line 3 of the Qingdao subway extends from Qingdao Railway Station to Qingdao North Railway Station, by way of South Qingdao District, North Qingdao District and Licang District. There are 22 stations along the line and it takes 47 minutes for the train to cover the whole line.

A number of “firsts” have been created for Subway Line 3：the first open-cut column-free archy station; the first largest same-floor subway transfer station; the first subway line operated under the 35Kv diversified power supply system; the first least heavy carriage, etc.
