Warm Congratulations on the International Award Won Subway Line 10 Project Designed by UCD
On Sep. 26, at the annual meeting of International Federation of Consulting Engineers ( “FIDIC”) in Marrakech, an age-old city of Morocco, nearly 1000 guests from more than 80 countries witnessed the awarding of the FIDIC Outstanding Project of the Year to Beijing Subway Line 10 general contracted and designed by UCD It is the first world-level award won by UCD in terms of design & consulting projects, as well as an FIDIC award won by Beijing for the first time in terms of infrastructure projects.
FIDIC awards are known as “Nobel Prizes for the consulting engineering industry”. In 2013, at the 100th anniversary of its establishment, FIDIC chose the “FIDIC Centenary Awards” for the very first time. Since then, the FIDIC Executive Committee continued to present FIDIC Awards on an annual basis to recognize outstanding projects that have contributed to world economic and social development. In 2016, among 21 FIDIC-commended projects, China won 11 awards, exceeding the total of other countries. Among others, China won top three of the awards of outstanding projects, and the trophies of excellence ranking top eight were all won by Chinese projects, putting China in the first place in four consecutive years. The rapid development of consulting engineering industry in China has constantly brought Chinese projects, Chinese standards and Chinese programs overseas and has taken the leading position in the world.
As a general contract project designed by UCD, the Beijing Subway Line 10 is currently the largest closed subway loop line and the second rapid transit loop line in Beijing. Being 57.11 km in length, the Subway Line 10 has 45 stations in all, with 24 of which being transfer stations. After its completion and being open to traffic, the Subway Line 10 can transport 1.74 million person-times on a daily average. The subsidence and risk control technologies adopted for building the line have obtained national patents. The systematized methods of design made the normal operation of other subway lines uninterrupted in the course of the construction of the line in Phase I and Phase II. The completion and operation of the Subway Line 10 has substantially improved the passenger capacity of subway lines in Beijing, quickened the course of urbanization in the city, and provided the citizens with a fast, easy and safe means of transport.
The FIDIC awards to Subway Line 10 is an important milestone for UCD’s design capabilities being recognized internationally, demonstrating the design strength of China to the full. From now on, UCD will continue to exert itself to build classic projects in the fields of infrastructure design consultancy and project management to constantly improve its international influence and to reach greater spans of development!
