CCES President Guo Yunchong Comes to UCD for Research and Giving Work Guidance

Recently, Guo Yunchong, former vice minister of Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) and president of China Civil Engineering Society (CCES), visited UCD for research and giving work guidance, in the company of CCES vice president and secretary-general Liu Shijie, deputy secretary-general Li Jiangang, and persons in charge of related departments.

Wang Hanjun, UCD’s General Manager and Chairman of CCES’ Urban Rail Transit Technology Working Committee, introduced historical development, process of reorganization and going public, and situations of business development of the company. Feng Aijun, UCD’s deputy chief engineer and secretary-general of Urban Rail Transit Technology Working Committee of CCES, introduced the work done by the committee in recent years and the future plans of the committee.

President Guo Yunchong pointed out that, against the backdrop of the rail transit market that has been developing rapidly and the related design and construction technologies that are changing with each passing day, main business of the company has developed by leaps and bounds，with its market occupancy being increased constantly, thus leading to outstanding achievements. Meanwhile, the Urban Rail Transit Technology Working Committee undertaken by UCD has conducted a prodigious amount of fruitful work in terms of academic exchange, standard establishment, research project, excellence appraisal and creation and project evaluation, thereby taking the lead in the industry.

Guo Yunchong stressed that, to address such problems as work fragmentation, lack of unified planning, waste of resources and safety risk that have cropped up in urban underground resources development, he was in the hope that UCD should give play to its role of bellwether in the industry in setting up the national coordination and innovation platform of the urban rail transit industry and make greater research and innovation efforts and play a bigger role in protecting urban underground resources, optimizing underground space design and conserving energy and reducing emissions in urban and rural construction.

Wang Hanjun, General Manager of the company, expressed that UCD will make use of its resources and its innovation and cooperation platform to get involved in the development of the underground space as a whole in a more positive way and, with the support of CCES, UCD will do better in all aspects of the work of the Urban Rail Transit Technology Working Committee and make still greater contribution to the development of the rail transit industry.

Deputy General Manager Wan Xuehong, chief engineer Yang Xiuren, deputy secretaries-general of CCES’ Rail Transit Technology Committee Guo Jianguo and Liang Qinghuai, and secretary-general of the Exploration Committee Huang Fulian attended the meeting.
