The National Engineering Laboratory for Green & Safe Construction Technology in Urban Rail Transit was Inaugurated

 

Led by the Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group Co., Limited (Beijing UCD) for construction, and constructed by three advantageous domestic organizations in transportation industry including Beijing Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University and Nanjing Metro jointly through the collaborative innovation model of “industry-university-research-use”, the National Engineering Laboratory for Green & Safe Construction Technology in Urban Rail Transit (the Laboratory) was inaugurated on August 30 in Beijing. Over 100 people including the leadership from China Association for Science and Technology, Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People’s Republic of China, Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning, Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission, Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, Beijing Major Projects Construction Headquarters Office, Organization Department of Beijing Municipal Party Committee, Beijing Subway Operating Company, Beijing MTR Construction Administration Corporation, China Association of Metros, Chinese Engineering Survey and Design Institute, China Association of International Engineering Consultants, etc., leadership from four joint-construction organizations and eight academicians and experts including Shi Zhongheng, Chen Zhaoyuan, Yang Xiumin, He Huawu, Zhang Chuhan, You Zheng, Nie Jianguo and Chen Yunmin attended the unveiling ceremony. Cheng Yan, the Deputy General Manager of Beijing UCD, and Wang Hanjun, the General Manager, delivered speech during the ceremony.

The Laboratory was officially replied by the National Development and Reform Commission on March 9, 2016. Shi Zhongheng and Nie Jianguo, two academicians of Chinese Academy of Engineering, hold posts of the Honorary Director and Director of the Technical Committee of the Laboratory respectively. Wang Hanjun, the General Manager of Beijing UCD, holds the post of the President of the First Board of Directors; while Yang Xiuren, the Chief Engineer, was appointed as the Director of the Laboratory.
During the activity, the Laboratory was jointly inaugurated by Wang Hanjun, the General Manager of Beijing UCD, Chen Feng, the Vice Chancellor of Beijing Jiaotong University, You Zheng, the Vice Chancellor of Tsinghua University, and She Caigao, the President of Nanjing Metro. As the President of the Laboratory, Wang Hanjun issued the Letters of Appointment to members of the Technical Committee as well as the director and deputy director of the Laboratory.

Moreover, the Laboratory will be constructed depending on the favorable infrastructures, technological base and abundant resource superiorities of technical personnel of the leading and joint-construction organizations. Regarding to problems including frequent accidents, significant environmental impacts and low efficiency of urban rail transit construction and operation in China, the Laboratory will lay emphasis on the construction of the demonstrative platform for research, development and application of green & safe construction technology in urban rail transit while supporting the research, development and engineering of technologies, processes and equipment including green construction, new track structures as well as construction and operation safety for underground and viaduct projects centering on the urgent demands for safety, environment-friendly, efficient and sustainable development of urban rail transit in China in the future. In addition, the Laboratory will focus on constructing the “three major innovation platforms, one major supporting platform, seven research centers and 1+N demonstrative bases for application”, leading the advancement and innovation of China in the technological development of urban rail transit area, improving the construction quality and efficiency of rail transit projects, achieving the infrastructures which are environment-friendly, safe, reliable and easy to maintain and providing supporting platforms for technology research and development of the innovative, safe and smart urban rail transit so as to lead the technology development of global urban rail transit projects.

In the following three years, the Laboratory will break through in no less than ten key technologies and equipment regarding to underground prefabricated structures, elevated structures of U-beams, new prefabricated vibration attenuation tracks, refined project construction and operation safety monitoring, real-time monitoring and early warning for service status of line structures, multi-scale evaluation for structural seismic safety, disaster reduction, etc. In addition, the Laboratory aims to shorten over 20% of the construction period of underground stations, improve over 40% of the work efficiency for track structures, reduce no less than 10 dB of the environmental impact of vibration and prepare or participate in the preparation of no less than four standards (specifications) so as to provide technical support for technical progress and industrial development of the construction of urban rail transit in China.
