Steel structure project for train parking and inspection at Wuliqiao in Beijing wins the “12th China Steel Structure Golden Prize”

The 2016 National Architecture Steel Structure Industrial Conference was held in Hefei, capital of Anhui province, on May 14. The steel structure of the Wuliqiao parking and inspection, the westward extension project of Metro Line 6 in Beijing and designed by UCD, won “Golden Prize of the 12th China Steel Structure” (National Quality Engineering Prize) at the conference. Ma Heng, head of the steel structure design of the project, participated in the conference and received the trophy and certificate.

The conference is sponsored by China Construction Metal Structure Association (CCMSA) and co-organized by the Construction Steel Structure Sub-Association of the CCMSA and Anhui Fuhuang Steel Structure Co., Ltd. The conference has the theme of “Innovative driving, Green development”. At the conference, Hao Jiping, chairman of the CCMSA, gave a welcome speech to the participants. Dang Baowei, deputy secretary-general of the CCMSA and chairman of the Sub-association of the Construction Steel Structure of the CCMSA, delivered the report on the steel structure industry in 2015. The CCMSA honored the award-winning entities and individuals for “Golden Prize of the 12th China Steel Structure”, 2015 “Excellent Entrepreneur” and “Honest 5A Enterprise”.

Introduction of the Project: The Wuliqiao steel structure project adopts the new-type structure of steel truss framework + waveform steel web and uses new-type connection node which won the recognition of the industrial experts. The consumption of steel for the roof of the project saved 11.5 percent compared with the flat square pyramid space grid (53kg/m2) in the first phase. At the same time, the project reduced 110 pillars and saved 300 pile foundations, reducing the cost and accelerated the progress of the construction. The project was put into operation in December 2014 since its main structure was completed in September of the year.
