Urban Traffic Complex Research Center Unveiled

Design giants join hands to build a design platform for urban integration

It is an era giving top priority to cooperation. On October 12, two famous domestic design companies both with a history of 57 years – Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group and the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University announced to jointly initiate and establish “Urban Traffic Complex Design and Research Center” and jointly cope with the opportunities and challenges of future urban integration in China. General Manager Wang Hanjun, Zhuang Weimin – President of the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University, Guan Jifa – Deputy General Manager of Beijing Infrastructure Investment Co., Ltd. and Zhang Qi – Director of Beijing Municipal Commission of Urban Planning unveiled the nameplate of the center. Party Secretary Li Guoqing, Deputy General Managers Xu Xiaodong and Wan Xuehong, Chief Engineer Yang Xiuren, Hu Shaoxue – Advisor and Chief Architect of the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University and national design master, and Wang Wei – Vice President of Tsinghua Holdings Human Settlements Construction Group and Vice President of Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University were present. 

General Manager Wang Hanjun made a speech on behalf of the initiators. He said, with the fast development of economy and society, the land development model oriented by public transit can harmonize the contradiction between traffic congestion and land shortage, so it attracts great attention from all social circles and has a broad development prospect. Under this macro-background, the company allied with Tsinghua University to jointly initiate and establish Urban Traffic Complex Design and Research Center. The two parties will complement each other,, form a close strategic cooperation alliance, carry out extensive cooperation in scientific research of special projects, brand publicity, talent cultivation, international cooperation, academic forums and market expansion, shoulder the important missions of technological innovation and achievement transformation in this field by real actions, strive to build China’s first-rate technology innovation platform, industrial talent cultivation base and industrial innovation base and jointly promote the progress of the industry. At the subsequent seminar, Chief Engineer Liu Jing and Qi Bin – Deputy Chief Architect of the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Tsinghua University made keynote speeches.

With the fast development of economy and society, the land development model oriented by public transit can harmonize the contradiction between traffic congestion and land shortage, so it attracts great attention from all social circles and has a broad development prospect. The research center jointly initiated by the two renowned enterprises in reliance on their respective advantages under this macro-background may facilitate steady development of this business field. 

“Urban Traffic Complex Design and Research Center” will focus on the research and design of urban complexes guided by urban traffic, particularly the urban traffic complexes having such functions as business, office, residence, hotel, catering, exhibition, convention and entertainment and including development of rail transit stations, development of vehicle bases, traffic hubs, development of underground space, and rail transit control centers. The center will carry out the work in all stages, including research, planning, consultation, urban design and individual buildings.
