The expert seminar on TBM Tunneling in Urban Complicated Underground Condition successfully held
On the afternoon of July 8, the Urban Rail Transit Technical Committee of China Civil Engineering Society (URTTC) held the Expert Seminar on TBM(Tunnel Boring Machine) Tunneling in Urban Complicated Underground Condition at Xizhimen Guest House. More than 30 industrial experts from Beijing Subway developers, designers, constructors, equipment suppliers and representatives from designers of Tianjin and Guangzhou exchanged views on the technical issues concerning the TBM tunneling in the urban complicated underground condition.
Wang Xinjie, an expert of URTTC, chaired the seminar. He first introduced the purpose of the seminar that was to identify and discuss the questions and difficulties of using TBM tunneling in the rail transit construction in the complicated geological, geographic and environmental conditions. He invited Yue Guiping, expert from Beijing MTR Construction Administration Co., Ltd. to introduce the construction of Beijing subway, and Wang Liang, deputy general manager of Beijing Urban Construction Design & Development Group (UCD) to make the report Key Technology of TBM Tunneling Construction in Water-Enriched Large-diameter Boulder Stratum – Bidding No. 6 of Beijing Subway Line 9. Wang Liang introduced the complicated geological and topographic conditions and how to overcome geological difficulties in the TBM tunneling operation for the section starting from Shijitan East, south bank of the diversion channel of Yongding River, crossing the diversion channel of Yongding River, East Lake of Yuyuantan and the military administration area to the East Diaoyutai Station.
Wang Wenxue, general manager of CSCEC Communications Shield Tunneling Corporation, introduced the shield tunneling of Shenzhen Metro Line 9 at the meeting. And Yao Ping, director of the Technical Department of Liaoning Censcience Industry Co. Ltd. (LNSS) introduced the problems and challenges in the shield tunneling of Shenzhen Metro Line 9 and the relevant countermeasures. Tony, chief engineer of LNSS Tunneling Canada Corporation, introduced the shield tunneling construction of Bright Water Project in Seattle of the US. Experts exchanged views on the shield tunneling of these three projects and discussed the technical questions and difficulties of shield tunneling in the complicated geological conditions of the other cities. At the meeting, experts also exchanged views on the TBM technology of LNSS and praised highly of the shield tunneling machine of LNSS.
Finally Feng Aijun, secretary-general of the Technical URTTC, made a conclusion and introduced the arrangement for the next step of the committee. The meeting was actively and successfully concluded with desired goals achieved.
