Southern Extension Line of Metro Line S8 (Ningtian Intercity Line)of Nanjing Opened

Recently, the southern extension line of Nanjing Metro Line S8 (Ningtian Intercity Line), surveying and design general contracting of which was undertaken by UCD, has been opened officially, marking a further shaping up of subway network in the Jiangbei New District of Nanjing. The flourishing area north of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge has ushered in the first rail transit line giving convenience to residents along the line and bringing about more streams of people.

With the total length of 2.072km, the southern extension line is the line stretcher of Phase I of Line S8 (Ningtian Intercity Line), first citywide line of Nanjing. Situated in the area north of Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, the line stretcher is laid northward along the north road of the Yangtze River Bridge, with the Yangtze River Bridge North Station set up at the intersection of Puzhu North Road as the origin station and a station set at the intersection of the Woolen Mill Road. Traversing the express way of the Yangtze River Bridge North Road and Meiguiying Railway, the line stretcher connects with the S8 Line already in operation. In the future, S8 Line will form the north-south trunk lines across the Jiangbei New District together with Phase I of the Metro Line 11 under construction to give play to the whole function and the network effect of the rail transit lines more effectively.
