National Finals of the 2nd China Urban Rail Transit Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Finish Off Perfectly!

 

On Nov. 10, the awards and summing-up assembly for the National Finals of the 2nd China Urban Rail Transit Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, jointly conducted by UCD, Beijing Jiaotong University, Tsinghua University, Tongji University and Southwest Jiaotong University, came to an end as satisfactorily at Tiantai Hotel in Beijing.

The competition was officially launched in April this year followed by a series of events in nearly 5 months including project collection, preliminary screening and wonderful rematches in four major competition areas. And the competition was energetically supported by the Rail Transit Institute, East China Institute, Nanjing Branch, Xuzhou Branch, Shenzhen Branch, Chengdu Branch, Nanning Branch, Hangzhou Branch, Tianjin Branch, Chongqing Branch, Jinan Branch, Zhengzhou Branch and other regional institutions and branches. A total of 153 projects of three major categories were collected for the competition. In the end, 34 projects entered the final competition, and 3 outstanding prizes, 11 winning prizes, and 20 outstanding prizes were awarded.

What is worth mentioning is that the organizing committee of the competition specially invited more than 30 young experts from China Civil Engineering Society to conduct one-on-one special counseling for the participating projects to ensure the quality and level of the projects. Mentors, who performed outstandingly in giving instructions for the competition, were awarded prizes for the title of “Ten Outstanding Mentors” as encouragement. In the meantime, prizes, such as defense demeanour, successful transformation, best organization, best popularity, etc., were set up for the competition in an innovative way and awarded to the participating projects and sponsor units.

    

At the awarding ceremony, Guo Yunchong, chairman of China Civil Engineering Society, Chen Daihua, chairman of Beijing Urban Construction Group, Yu Zujun, vice president of Beijing Jiaotong University, Gu Xianglin, vice president of Tongji University, He Chuan, vice president of Southwest Jiaotong University, and Deng Ning, and vice president of Tsinghua University Research Institute, delivered remarks respectively, conveying congratulations on the success of the competition and expressing affirmation and gratitude to all participating projects and teams.

Chen Daihua, chairman of Beijing Urban Construction Group, pointed out at the conference that the 2nd China Urban Rail Transit Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition not only contributed to the construction of Beijing's “four centers” but also built a broad platform for exploring new ideas and new directions for the supply-side structural reform of the urban rail transit and boosting sustained and steady development of the industry.

UCD’s general manager Wang Hanjun, deputy general manager Cheng Yan, deputy general manager Yu Songwei, and deputy chief engineer Feng Aijun awarded the honorary certificates for the winners of the competition. Leaders from UCD’s technology research institute, industrialization promotion department, regional institutes, branch institutes and functional departments were invited to attend the assembly.

UCD's key R&D project ---- "Golden Dragon Cloud" of the Urban Rail Transit System Based on Cloud Platform ---- stood out with excellence and won the proprietor-proposition-based Outstanding Prize. Zhang Hui, manager of the intelligence control company, took the floor on behalf of the winners. He talked about the understanding of the smart city track, and introduced the efforts made by UCD in the practice of smart city rail, as well as the achievements made by the use of “Golden Dragon Cloud” in practice.

Feng Aijun, UCD’s deputy chief engineer, released the Analysis of Urban Rail Transit Innovation Trend at the assembly.
