A Letter of Thanks from Beijing Rail Transit Company

Recently, Beijing Rail Transit Construction Management Co., Ltd. sent a letter of thanks to Daxing Airport Line Design Team for their help and support given in the construction of the Daxing Airport Line. 

Daxing International Airport Line is a backbone line in the “13th Five-Year Plan” of Beijing Rail Transit. It is an integral important part of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integrated development strategy construction project. Daxing Airport Line came into operation synchronically with the operation of the Daxing Airport on September 26, 2019, playing a positive role in accelerating the economic integration of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region and in boosting the construction of new engines.

Caoqiao Station, the starting point of the Daxing Airport Line, is the first maximally modernized station in China where airport and luggage check-in procedures can be conducted directly. It combines multi-line interchange rail transit, aviation service functions, transportation connection facilities, and station upper cover supportive reservation into one and provides one-stop service.

On September 25, Chinese President Xi Jinping inspected Caoqiao Station, and in the transfer hall he listened to the introduction of the planning and construction of the Daxing Airport Line and delivered an important speech on urban rail transit. He encouraged “Beijing to continue to devote major efforts to developing rail transit, to construct a comprehensive, green, safe and intelligent stereoscopic and modern urban transportation system, and to always remain on the international advanced level to build Beijing into a modern international metropolis.” President Xi also took the subway from Caoqiao Station to Daxing International Airport to attend the commissioning ceremony. Caoqiao Station greeted President Xi’s inspection with a perfect gesture and appearance, winning honor and establishing the image for the rail transit construction in Beijing and putting a premium on the confidence and morale among the whole builders.

Caoqiao Station has created many first places in the industry and in the whole country in terms of concept innovation and technological breakthroughs: designing benchmarking aviation, realizing the baggage consignment function for the first time, piloting air-rail intermodal transportation; in the same period, the vertical area of the station hall being reserved directly to the upper cover section; construction of transportation connection facilities, air passengers’ transfer to taxis, network vehicles, etc. The station has achieved innovation and breakthrough in all aspects, and the design for the station has reached a new height.

During the construction of Caoqiao Station, Xu Chengyong, the secretary of the Rail Transit Institute, visited the site many times to guide and coordinate the work; Jiang Chuanzhi, Zhao Wei, Xia Ruimeng, Zhang Lianghan provided assistance for the overall coordinated promotion; project leader Fang Ming, professional persons in charge, such as Huang He, Li Yingjie long resided on the spot for intensified design and construction cooperation, and contributed great efforts and hard work, thus fully demonstrating the craftsman’s spirit of "great excellence, quality first" of a great country.

Many adverse factors were tackled, such as short construction cycle and changing planning conditions, in the design of the Caoqiao Station on Daxing Airport Line, creating unprecedented titles of “Caoqiao Quality”, “Caoqiao Speed” and “Caoqiao Spirit”, embodying the efforts of the builders and demonstrating UCD’s political responsibility of “Taking Pride in the Motherland” and its heroic spirit of “Keeping forging ahead”. It is a precious and gratifying gift to the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic.
