Opening of the First Phase of Metro Line 14 for the “National Traditional Games of Ethnic Minorities” in Zhengzhou

On Sep. 1st, the first phase of Rail Transit Line 14 of Zhengzhou, which had been all surveyed and designed by UCD, went through the trial operation with passengers onboard. As a result, Zhengzhou has realized the wish to enable its people to take subways for the games. So far subway lines 1, 2, 5, first phase of the suburban line, first phase of line 14 have been opened to traffic, with the total mileage reaching 141 kilometers.

Situated in the cultural service area of the townspeople of Zhengzhou and in the neighboring areas, Line 14 has been laid along the Tongda Road and Train Station Avenue. It is a rail transit project aimed at serving the cultural service center and is a new window displaying the city’s graceful bearing in west Zhengzhou. Started from Xushui Station in Zhongyuan District, the line ends at Lianhu Station in the same district, with 6 stations and Tieluxi car depot set up that come to a total length of 7.455 kilometers or so. All underground, there are 3 transfer stations along the line. Stations along Line 14 have all been beautifully and uniquely designed and shaped in simplicity and bright color. With the inner space being commodious, art walls of the stations demonstrates the elements of the ethnic minorities games, being brisk and bright and creating a happy atmosphere.

Construction of the first phase of Line 14 started in January of 2017 and all tunnels were completed on May 15, 2018. On Sep. 30 of the same year, all rail tracks were laid. On Sep. 30, 2018, power was supplied to all the line. On May 23, joint debugging and test were fulfilled. On May 24, the whole line was put under trial operation. On Aug. 23, the project was completed and went through acceptance check. It took two years and eight months from the initial construction of Line 14 to the trial operation of its first phase and, so to speak, the whole process embodied the struggling and go-ahead sportsmanship of “Still Higher, Faster and Stronger”. 

In more than 900 days and nights, the trial operation cut a fine figure at the present day, and many city builders contributed hard work and overcame difficulties to have achieved the opening of the first phase of Line 14 today. The line is the second line undertaken overall by UCD in Henan. UCD’s Zhengzhou branch expresses heartfelt gratitude to leaders at all levels for their long-standing support and help and to all designers for their hard work and efforts! We will continue with our hard work and efforts to make more contribution to the ethnic minority games and to the new round of development of Zhengzhou’s urban construction and we will continue to strive for UCD’s more influence and market share in Henan Province!
